are we just a fraught series of momentary alignments?

for string quartet

Premiere: .abeceda [String Quartet]
21’00"

This string quartet explores unity through a lens of instability. Presented as a series of interconnected episodes, alignment is depicted as a complex interplay of fleeting moments of coherence and togetherness, contrasted with disruptions and disquiet. These brief moments of alignment are fractured by surges of intensity, interruptions, and passages of departure, reflecting the uncertainties that threaten to pull systems apart.
This is not a narrative of cohesion. It is a portrayal of alignment’s fragility, its existence in provisional moments, and the ever-present conditions that challenge its persistence. Unity, in this work, is momentary—emerging briefly before yielding to the pressures, accelerations, and demands of contemporary life. Alignment appears as a temporary suspension, a precarious state that is continually strained by the realities of modernity.
